OUR MISSION is "To Promote and provide education and social supports that foster successful parenting."
Families First was formed in 1999 and incorporated in 2000 as a private non profit to provide parenting education in Grant County, Oregon. We are reliant upon grants, donations and local fundraising efforts conducted by staff and the board of directors to support our programs. In order to operate all of our programs at minimal cost, we rely heavily on community volunteers and partnering agencies for various duties. Community members conduct parent classes for which they are trained, maintain our lawn, sew baby slings for new mothers, cook meals for our classes, donate food, cash, clothing and household items as well as many other valuable contributions that are passed on to families.
Healthy Families and Parents As Teachers Home Visiting
Healthy Families and Parents As Teachers are programs that help prepare children for kindergarten. Both programs use the Born To Learn and Growing Great Kids curriculums which provide information on all stages of child development including new brain development research, developmental screening, activities to do with children, and parenting support.
